Mini brief film roles

Callum Ison-
Script write: For our media mini brief the first role which I took was as the script write. In this role I was expected to create the script for the film, which included stage directions for the actors to follow.

Editor: After the film was processed I took the role of editing the film in post production. During this role, I cut the shots down so that the continuity of the film flowed well. As well as this I added specific pieces of non-diegetic sound in order to create a specific tone during different parts of the film.

Costume and prop designer: For this role I was given the task of creating outfits which would help to connote certain tones and feelings throughout the film. As well as this, I gathered the props which were to be used during filming. This was an important role as without the props the film would have had no iconography- no items to associate with the characters.

Director : Another role which was mine (and shared with my partner) was to make sure that the actors and props were set our in their specific areas to create the shot how we had specifically planned it. The director must make sure that the actors knew their lines and direct where the camera was to be placed in order to get specific shots for the film.

Joe Deighton-
Storyboard creator: One of my partners roles was to create a storyboard in order to design the shot and background to our specific needs. We needed a storyboard in order to create a scale for the shot so that there was not too much dead space in the shot. Without a storyboard the shots during filming would not have been planned out and therefore the professionalism of the film would be signficantly worse.

Sub editor: Another role which my partner had was as a sub editor. This role was in order to give me tips of what was going well and what aspects of editing were not. This was a helpful role to have as this meant that the problems that I was unable to see were spotted and soon changed in order to create a better quality of film.
